Nichols tops Medina at Cataract Classic
Unable to get untracked offensively in the first half, Medina dropped a 52-35 decision to Nichols this afternoon in the Cataract Classic at Niagara Falls High School.
Able to manage only 9 points in the first half, the Mustangs trailed by margins of 9-6 after one quarter, 23-9 at the half and 34-19 at the three-quarter mark.
Trent Banaszak led Nichols’ balanced attack with 14 points, 9 of which came in the first half.
Jalin Cooper took game high scoring honors for Medina with 17, all in the second half, as Mason Lewis added 6, Izaiah Rhim 5, Brendan Luthart 4 and Alex Allis 3.
Now at 0-2, Medina next hosts Tapestry at 6:30 p.m. Monday in a non league game. The Mustangs will then open the Niagara-Orleans League campaign by hosting rival Albion at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
