Nichols posts win over Medina cagers
A big second quarter sparked Nichols to a 67-42 victory over visiting Medina this evening in a non league boys basketball game.
Leading 22-15 after one period, Nichols put together a 21-5 second quarter scoring surge to pull away to a commanding 43-20 half-time advantage.
Nichols then put a firm lock on the victory by outscoring Medina 13-5 in the third quarter to extend the lead to 56-25 at the three-quarter mark.
Jalin Cooper scored 9 points, Justin Morgan 7, Tyler Ames 6 and Jared Zinkievich, Brad McPherson and Tyrellis Atkins 5 each for Medina.
Now at 0-2, Medina next hosts Burgard at 6:30 p.m. Friday in another non league contest.
Wilson 50, Akron 22
Wilson defeated host Akron 50-22 in the Niagara-Orleans League season opener for both teams.
Ryan Bradley scored 16, Andrew Eames and Jonah Miller 9 each and Alex Fox 8 to lead the way for Wilson which led 22-9 at the half.
