Niagara Nationals ousted from Cap Classic

Limited to only 2 hits, the Niagara Nationals dropped a 6-0 decision to the Ohio Athletics Bees this morning to open the championship round of the Cap Classic in Pittsburgh.

The Bees, which also downed the Nationals 5-3 early in the tournament, scored twice in the second inning, once in the third and three times in the fifth.

David Belsito and Mitchel Holtz had the only hits for the Nationals.

Upstate Showdown
The previous week the Nationals competed in the Upstate Showdown Tournament bowing in the semifinals to the Gaffer 8-7 in 10 innings.

Nate Sherman and Joe Dell’oso both had a pair of hits for the Nationals.

Earlier in the tourney the Nationals defeated Webster 23-0 and Team Valle 9-2.

Sherman, Dell’oso, Liam Ward, Belsito, Trevor Luthart and Carson Harper each had 3 hits and Chris Goyette 2 in the win over Webster.

Belsito and Goyette then each had a pair of hits in the win over Team Valle as the Nationals scored 3 times in the second inning an twice in the third, fourth and fifth frames.
