Newfane tops Medina to grab N-O lead
Taking over sole possession of first place, Newfane used a big fourth quarter scoring surge to key a 64-44 win over visiting Medina this evening to take over sole possession of the Niagara-Orleans League boys basketball lead.
Leading by a narrow 38-36 margin at the three-quarter mark, Newfane put together a big 26-8 fourth quarter scoring burst to claim the key early season win.
Jeremy Foltz scored 10 of his game high 21 points and Michael Carmer 8 of his 13 to spearhead the Panthers decisive late uprising.
Brian Fry scored 19 and Tyler Chinn 13 for Medina which trailed 27-23 at the half. Fry also grabbed off 11 rebounds.
Newfane is now 3-0 and Medina 3-1 in N-O action.
Akron 34, Barker 18
Mitchell Holtz scored 15 and Jacob Mazza 10 to lead Akron to a 34-18 win over visiting Barker.
Nathan Meza Ray scored 6 and Devonte Hill 5 for Barker.
Akron is now 2-1 and Barker 1-3.
