Newfane sweeps Medina in N-O track meet

Staying undefeated at 5-0, Newfane posted a 92-45 win over host Medina this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League girls track meet.

Kim Goerss was a triple winner for Newfane in the 400 Hurdles, 800 and 3200.

Devin Griffin was a triple winner for Medina in the High Jump, Shotput and Discus as Olivia Carter won the Long Jump. Griffin also won both the Shotput and Discus on Wednesday to finish up a meet against Wilson which earned Medina a 75-52 victory.

Medina finishes the dual meet portion of the season at 3-3.

Newfane completed the sweep by downing Medina 92-48 in the boys competition.

Ryan Casinelli was a triple winner in the 100, 200 and 400 and Tyler Catrell doubled in the High Jump and Triple Jump for the Panthers which improve to 3-2.

Trenton Crews doubled in the 110 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles for Medina which winds up at 1-5.

Wilson, Akron split

Wilson defeated Akron 89-47 to improve to finish at 4-2 in N-O boys track competition.

Jared Jakes doubled in the 110 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles, Marcell Wilson in the Long Jump and Triple Jump, Jon Littere in the High Jump and Discus and Will Schwartzmueller in the 1600 and 3200 for the Lakemen.

The Akron girls bested Wilson 108-33 to stay unbeaten at 5-0.

Skylar Munnikhuysen was a triple winner for Wilson in the Long Jump, High Jump and Triple Jump.
