Newfane posts key X-C win over Medina

Photos by Tom Rivers – Medina’s Cameron Castanon heads to a win in today’s tri-meet at Albion ahead of Albion’s Reuben Rivers.

Taking over sole possession of first place, defending champion Newfane bested Medina 22-35 in a key regular season ending Niagara-Orleans League boys cross country tri-meet this morning at Albion.

Newfane finishes the regular season at 6-0 and Medina 5-1.

Newfane also downed Albion 20-43 and Medina topped Albion 20-41.

A 3-4-5- finish by the trio of Nick Baes, Jayden Reynolds and Connor Cuzzacrea sparked Newfane to the win.

Medina’s Cameron Castanon won the race in 18:34 as Albion’s Reuben Rivers finished second. Click here to view the start and finish of the boys race.

In the girls race, defending champion Newfane defeated Medina 15-50 and Albion 16-45 to finish the regular season 6-0.

Newfane’s Kylie Bowman, who won the race in 20:59, led a quarter of Lady Panthers who were first to cross the finish line.

Albion also downed Medina 19-41.

Alanna Holman finished fifth for Albion.

In the another N-O meets Barker defeated Wilson 15-48 in the boys race and Wilson nipped Barker 27-28 in the girls’ race. Akron swept Roy-Hart winning the boys’ race 24-33 and the girls’ competition 16-47.

Barker had the top finisher in both races in Carla Stoloski and Mason Allee-Castro.

Roy-Hart’s Jay Heideman won the boys’ race and Akron’s Lauren Wagner the girls’ race.
