In a tight sea-saw battle, Newfane scored late in the second overtime period to outlast host Albion 5-4 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League girls soccer game.

Kayleigh Daniels scored the game winner for Newfane with 2:20 remaining in the second 10 minute overtime.

Both teams had scored once in the first overtime. Albion grabbed a 4-3 lead on a goal by Emily Blanchard with 8:28 remaining only to see Newfane answer right back to retie the contest at 4-4 on a tally by Kaylee Heschke with 2:51 to go.

The teams likewise traded goals in the final 10 minutes of regulation play which ended deadlocked at 3-3.

Albion regained a 3-2 lead when Mariah Elsenheimer netted her third goal of the night with 10:37 to go off an assist from Allie Page.

Newfane though quickly rallied back into a 3-3 tie when Erica Flagler scored with 8:29 remaining.

Albion had jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Elsenheimer scored with 12 minutes to go in the first half and again early in the second half, both off assists from Blanchard.

However, Newfane used a quick two goal scoring burst to pull even as Daniels tallied with 30 minutes to go in regulation time and Emily Foltz tallied just two minutes later and the sea-saw battle was on.

Newfane is now 2-0 and Albion 1-1 in N-O action.
