Newfane girls roll past Albion

Jumping out to a double digit first period lead, Newfane went on to defeat host Albion 48-31 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball game.
Three straight baskets by Emily Foltz ignited Newfane’s 17-5 first period scoring surge which also included two layups off turnovers by Katie Kneeland and a three by Paige Emborsky.
Albion’s only lead of the night was at 3-2 after a three-point play by Emily Blanchard as the Purple Eagles were plagued by a rash of turnovers and cold shooting..
Newfane went on to up its advantage to 20, 27-7, at the half and then to 25, 40-15, at the three-quarter mark. Four different players contributed baskets for the Lady Panthers in both the second and third periods.
Foltz finished with a game high 14 points as Kneeland, Emborsky and Olivia Littman each added 8. Halie Hambruch, Katherine LeFever, Marlee Passuite, Kayleigh Daniels, Emily Geer and Laura Auernhamer each chipped in with 2.
Albion’s Sierra Newton looks to put back a rebound shot as Marlee Passuite tries for the stop for Newfane.
Chanyce Powell scored 9 and Blanchard 8 for Albion as Sierra Newton netted 6, Caitlynn Snook 4 and Janae Doty and Raven White 2 each.
Newfane improves to 3-0 in N-O action while Albion slips to 1-2.
