Newfane girls place third at state X-C meet

The Niagara-Orleans League and Section VI champion Newfane girls cross-country team placed third in the state Class C championship race today at SUNY Plattsburgh.

Newfane garnered 104 points on the day to finish behind champion Camden (Section III) 75 points and runner-up Greenwich (Section II) 77 points.

Kylie Bowman led the way for Newfane with a 29th place finish as Catalena Ersing was 37th, Vanessa Burkard 40th, Lydia Chunco 45th, Leah Siegmann 53rd, Shelby Nerber 68th and Marina Ersing 70th.

Akron’s Lauren Wagner finished 14th and Roy-Hart’s Anna Rickard 32nd in the Class C race.

In the boys Class D race Barker’s Peter DiLorenzo finished 21st and his Raider teammate Mason Alee-Castro 51st.
