Newfane girls edge Albion in N-O opener

Newfane edged past host Albion 36-34 this evening to open the Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball season.

Hannah Hambruch scored 9, Jensen McGhee 8 and Marah Sheehann 7 for Newfane which led 22-18 at the half. Sheehan had a key basket late in the final period to put the Lady Panthers up by three.

Aly Knaak scored 10 and Honesty Little 8  for Albion. Little also grabbed off 12 rebounds and Knaak 6.

Wilson 56, Roy-Hart 49

Trailing 43-42 after three quarters, defending champion Wilson used a 14-6 fourth period scoring edge to pst a 56-49 win over host Roy-Hart.

Maddy Seeley scored 13 and Isabelle Lemke 11 to lead the way for Wilson.

Ava Owens scored 15, Shelby Wolf 11, Rileigh McCabe 7 and Mya Quinn 6 for Roy-Hart.

Owens and Wolf each scored 6 to key a 20-13 third quarter surge which rallied the Lady Rams into the one point lead heading into the finals period.

Barker 54, Medina 20

Jumping out to a 23-8 halftime advantage, Barker went on to defeat visiting Medina 54-20 as Sydnie Luckman scored 23 and Alyssa Thompson 13.

Anya Bloom and Faithann Vanderwalker each scored 8 for Medina.
