Newfane cagers down Albion

Regaining the .500 mark at 5-5, Newfane downed host Albion 58-48 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League game.

Kyle DeVoogel and Max Weber each scored 16 to lead Newfane’s balanced attack as Chad Gilson chipped in with 13 and Nick Schultz 10.

Tommy Mattison scored 16 and Manwell Taylor 13 for Albion which slips to 4-5 in N-O action.

Newfane jumped out to an 18-9 first period lead as Weber tallied 5 and DeVoogel and Gilson 4 each.

The Panthers maintained a 30-24 lead at the half and then used a 17-9 third period scoring edge to extend the advantage to 47-33 at the three-quarter mark.

DeVoogel tallied 7 and Weber and Gilson both added 4 to lead the Panthers in the third period.

Wilson 56, Akron 28

Alex Fox, Andrew Eames and Jonah Miller each scored 12 and Ryan Bradley 7 to spark Wilson to a 56-28 victory over Akron as the Lakemen improve to 6-4 in N-O action.

Wilson took charge early jumping out to a 20-6 first period lead as Miller tallied 9, Eames 6 and Fox 5.

The Lakemen went on to hold leads of 32-10 at the half and 41-15 after three-quarters.

Medina dropped a 66-26 non league decision at Cheektowaga.

Charles Beach had a pin for Medina as Ian Joseph and Colby Petrie both earned decision wins.
