Newfane and Barker score X-C sweeps
Newfane’s boys and girls cross-country teams both scored a pair of victories this afternoon to finish the dual meet portion of the Niagara-Orleans League season with perfect 6-0 records.
The Newfane boys defeated Akron 22-37 and Wilson 20-39 led by the 2-3 finish of Connor and Andrew Cuzzacrea. Akron topped Wilson 24-34 in the other portion of the meet.
The Newfane girls bested Akron 15-50 and Wilson 15-44. Kylie Bowman led the way as the Lady Panthers had the first five runners to cross the finish line.
The Barker boys defeated Medina 18-44 and Roy-Hart 23-36 paced by the 2-3 finish of Mason Allee Castro and Nate Hess. Roy-Hart bested Medina in the other portion of the meet 28-29 led by race winner Jay Heideman. Medina’s Gabe Mark finished fourth.
In the girls race, Barker defeated Medina 18-40 and Roy-Hart 15-50. Medina also downed Roy-Hart 15-50. Barker was led by the 1-2 finish of Mikayla Woock and Emma Evans. Roy-Hart’s Julia Miles finished third and Medina’s Faith Baker-Austin fourth.
Boys Standings: Newfane 6-0, Barker 3-1, Medina 3-3, Roy-Hart 3-3, Wilson 2-4, Akron 1-3, Albion 0-4.
Girls Standings: Newfane 6-0, Wilson 5-1, Akron 2-2, Barker 2-2, Medina 2-4, Albion 1-3, Roy-Hart 0-6.
