New York tops 100,000 coronavirus cases, nears 3,000 deaths

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced this morning the state had its biggest one-day increase in the number of confirmed coronavirus cases with 10,482. That pushes the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 102,863.

The state also is up to 2,935 deaths, up from 2,373 a day earlier.

New York has more than 40 percent of the 245,658 confirmed cases in the United States. New Jersey has the second most cases among the states with 25,590.

There have been 1,041,126 confirmed Covid-19 cases in the world, resulting in 55,092 deaths. Johns Hopkins University is tracking the cases and reports that 221,262 people have recovered from the virus. (Click here for more information.)
