The fledgling Roy-Hart/Barker/Medina hockey team made a sparkling debut by defeating Iroquois/Alden 4-2 Sunday evening in a Western New York High School Club Hockey League game at West Seneca.

After a scoreless first period, Matt Saj (Medina) registered the Roy-Hart/Barker/Medina team’s historic first ever goal at the 16:42 mark off an assist from Tom Paisley (Roy-Hart).

Shortly after that, Rhett Wagner (Medina) made it 2-0 as Drew Marsh (Akron) earned the assist.

Iroquis/Alden answered with a goal but Saj got that one back with what proved to be the game winning goal.  Mark Krzykowski (Akron) and Trevor Crawford (Akron) both earned an assist on that tally.

Marsh later netted the winners final goal as Michael Kuchey (Roy-Hart) picked up the assist.

Evan Birkameir played solid in goal to san the victory.

Roy-Hart/Barker/Medina next faces the City Honors/Cardinal O’Hara team on Tuesday at the Riverside Rink in Buffalo.
