With new Coach Chris Proukou at the helm, the Kendall boys soccer team is prepping for the September 1 non league opener at LeRoy.

Proukou, who takes over the helm from Brian Duffy who has taken a coaching position at his alma mater of Hilton, faces a bit of a rebuilding jump as 12 of the 16 Eagles players on last year’s Genesee Region League title squad graduated.

Sophomore Jake Adams, who earned G-R All-Star honors, heads Kendall’s returning quartet which also includes junior Joe LoSapio and seniors Brandon Lewis and Paul Urquhart. Adams had a team leading 24 goals and 12 assists last year.

Two other underclassmen, junior Ben Frasch and sophomore Jeremy Browe, also look to play key roles.

"I think defensively we’re going to be a strong team. We’ll build out of the back," said Proukou. "And our midfield should be strong with Jake the core of that group."

Kendall is slated to begin its G-R title defense at Wheatland-Chili on Sept. 16.
