NCCC wins tourney; Perez is MVP

Medina High graduate and Niagara County Community College sophomore Alba Perez earned Most Valuable Player honors as the host Thunderwolves defeated Villa Maria College 76-56 this afternoon in the championship game of the NCCC Tournament.

Perez scored 16 points and grabbed off 15 rebounds as NCCC improves to 11-1 on the season.

Alliyah Gillespie, who was named to the All-Tournament team, netted 15 points for NCCC.

In the semifinals on Saturday, Perez had 22 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists as NCCC defeated Henry Ford Community College 98-67.

Gillespie added 21 points and 8 rebounds for the Thunderwolves.
