Natonals win opener at Lancer Classic
Scoring in five different innings, the Niagara Nationals downed the Timberwolves 6-1 this evening in the opening round of the Lancer Classic Tournament.
Joe Dell’oso and Trevor Luthart shared the pitching duties allowing only 4 hits and striking out 8.
Luthart and David Belsito both had 3 hits and Chris Goyette 2 to lead the Nationals at the plate.
The Nationals took the lead for good by scoring 2 quick runs in the first inning as Nate Sherman and Belsito both had hits.
A single by Sam Murphy helped plate a solo run in the second inning as did a double by Luthart in the third.
The Nationals tacked on solo runs in the fifth inning as Belsito and Goyette had hits and in the seventh as Aiden Johnston and Belsito banged out hits.
The Nationals continue the tourney with two games on Saturday.
