The Niagara Nationals blanked the PBP Drillers Vegas 2-0 this evening in the opening round of the Diamond Nation Tournament in New Jersey.

Sam Murphy hurled a 1 hitter with 7 strikeouts over the first 6 innings to lead the Nationals on the mound. Chris Goyette came on to complete the shutout in the seventh.

The Nationals scored what proved to be the game winner in the fifth on a single by Mitchell Holtz. A single by Trevor Luthart set up the threat.

A double by Aiden Johnston then plated an insurance run in the seventh.

Holtz and Johnston both had a pair of hits for the Nationals which continue tourney competition on Saturday.
