Nationals tie in Georgia tourney finale
The Niagara Nationals closed out pool play competition at the PG WWBA National championships in Georgia the same way they started, with a tie, this time a 2-2 deadlock with the Dig In Baseball team.
The Nationals scored 2 quick runs in the first inning without the benefit of a hit but could not cross home plate again.
Dave Belsito and Joe Dell’oso had the only hits for the Nationals which stranded runners at second and third in the seventh inning.
The Nationals finish the tourney competition with a 3-2-2 record.
Tri County semi pairings set
It will be Alexander at Albion and Lyndonville at Akron Black in the semifinals of the Tri County Babe Ruth League playoffs at 6 p.m. Thursday.
The winners advance to next Tuesday’s championship game.
In Tuesday’s quarterfinals, Lyndonville defeated Alden Curves 18-7, Akron Black nipped Oakfield 8-7, Alexander downed Akron Orange 6-3 and Albion won by forfeit over Alden Gold.
