Nationals take two from Predators
The Niagara Nationals swept to a doubleheader victory over the host Lewiston Predators on Saturday by scores of 7-5 and 11-9.
In the opener, Dom Cassata had 2 doubles and Liam Ward 2 singles for the Nationals as Nate Sherman, Chris Goyette, Mitchel Holtz and Hunter Briggs each chipped in with a single.
The Nationals scored twice in both the second and fourth innings before plating what proved to be the decisive 3 runs in the fifth.
Goyette pitched 2 innings striking out 3 and allowing 1 hit while Fry and Ward each hurled 1 inning.
In the second game, Ward had a home run and a single with 3 RBIs to lead the Nationals offense. Joe Dell’oso and Cassata both had doubles while Sherman and Briggs both added singles.
The Nationals got off to a quick start scoring 3 runs in the first inning and 5 more in the second but a 2 run fourth inning later accounted for the deciding runs.
