Nationals score two wins at Lancer Classic

Advancing to Sunday’ championship round, the Niagara Nationals romped to a pair of wins at the Lancer Classic today by scores of 16-2 over the Boston Badgers and 10-0 over the Baldwinsville Sworm.

After scoring 2 quick runs in the first inning, the Nationals pulled away from the Badgers by tallying 3 times in the second and 6 times in the third.  Carson Harper and Hunter Briggs had hits in the second as did Aiden Johnston, David Belsito, Chris Goyette, Harper and Trevor Luthart in the third.

Triples by Joe Dell’oso and Sam Murphy later highlighted a 5 run sixth frame which locked up the win.

Johnston had a total of 3 hits as Goyette, Luthart, Harper and Briggs each had 2.

On the mound, Murphy and Mitchell Holtz combined on a 3 hitter with 6 strikeouts.

Goyette, Dell’oso and Johnston them teamed up to blank the Sworm on 5 hits with 3 strikeouts.

A hit by Johnston highlighted a 3 run third inning while a double by Nate Shermn, a single by Dell’oso and 4 walks keyed 5 run fourth frame.
