Nationals place third at Can-Am Tourney
Scoring in five different innings, the Niagara Nationals took third place honors in the Can-Am Tournament by downing the Niagara Expos 8-4 this afternoon at Niagara County Community College.
Winning pitcher Korey Canton and Chris Goyette both had two hits for the Nationals as Joe Dell’oso, Liam Ward, Nate Sherman, Dave Belsito, Aiden Johnston and Carson Harper each chipped in with 1. Canton’s hits included a triple and Goyette’s a double.
On the mound, Canton allowed 5 hits and struck out 4 in six innings of work.
The Nationals slipped into the losers bracket by dropping a narrow 5-4 decision to the Gators earlier in the day.
The Gators rallied for three runs in the seventh inning to claim the win.
Ward and Belsito both had a pair of hits. Ward’s hits included a triple as Belsito and Sam Murphy both had doubles.
Luthart pitched six innings allowing 4 hits with 5 strikeouts.
The Nationals will next compete in the Darien Lake Tournament beginning Friday.
