Nationals open Beach Tourney with two wins

The Niagara Nationals posted a pair of victories today, to open competition in the Sports at the Beach Tournament at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

The Nationals first downed the Seminoles 10-6 and then romped past the N.J. Gamers 19-0.

Leading by a narrow 6-4 margin, the Nationals locked up the opener by scoring 3 times in the sixth inning as Sam Murphy hit a home run.

Earlier, the Nationals scored 3 times in the first as Aiden Johnston homered and 4 times in the third as Liam Ward homered, David Belsito doubled and Johnston and Chris Goyette singled.

Johnson and Belsito both had a total of 3 hits and Ward and Joe Dell’oso 2 each.

The Nationals then made quick work of the contest against the Gamers by exploding for 15 runs in the second inning as Ward, Johnston and Goyette all homered, Belsito doubled and Dell’oso added a pair of hits.

Dell’oso and Mitchell Holtz shared in hurling the no hitter in the mercy rule contest.

The Nationals continue tourney play on Saturday.
