Nationals nip Lancaster in 7th

The Niagara Nationals pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to nip Lancaster 2-1 in a Boys of Summer League game this evening at Vets Park.

Aiden Johnston doubled and came home on a single by Chris Goyette to earn the Nationals the victory.

The Nationals other run came in the first inning as Nate Sherman walked and scored on a fielders choice play off the bat of Johnston.

In their previous two league games the Nationals defeated Clarence 7-1 and the Niagara Junior Thunderwolves 15-2.

Joe Dell’Oso went the distance on the mound for the Nationals striking out 7 while allowing only 2 hits. The game was called after 5 innings of play because of rain. The Nationals were led offensively by Sherman’s triple and Brian Fry’s double.

Maverick O’Neill led the offense by going 3-3 at the plate. Sherman, Liam Ward, Goyette, and Dell’Oso all added 2 hits apiece for Nationals.
