Nationals have 3 win weekend
The Niagara Nationals romped to a doubleheader victory over host East Amherst on Saturday by scores of 19-2 and 16-2 and also defeated Batavia 15-2 on Sunday.
The Nationals took charge at the outset in game one against East Amherst by scoring 10 runs in the first inning highlighted by a three-run homer by Nate Sherman and a solo homer by Liam Ward. Sherman, Ward, Chris Goyette, Joe Dell’oso, Sam Murphy and Matt Lyskawa each had 2 hits in the game.
The second game followed a similar pattern as the Nationals erupted for 8 runs in both the first and second innings. Trevor Luthart, Brian Fry and Mitchell Holtz each had 2 hits, Hunter Briggs 2 home runs and Dell’oso a double.
The Nationals also struck early against Batavia scoring 4 runs in the first inning and 7 in the second. Fry banged out 3 hits as Sherman had a double, Briggs a triple and Luthart and Murphy singles.
