Limited to only five hits, the Niagara Nationals dropped a 9-1 decision to Lake Orion this afternoon in the semifinal round of the Gatorade Nationals Tournament at Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Lake Orion scored three times in the first, fifth and seventh innings.

The Nationals lone run came in the seventh on a double by David Belsito who had a pair of hits.

The Nationals advanced to the semis by downing the South Farmington Blues 13-3 this morning.

Doubles by Nate Sherman and Belsito helped to plate 3 quick first inning runs for the Nationals which then broke the game wide open with 9 runs in the second inning. A double by Carson Harper along with singles by Joe Dell’oso, Liam Ward, Aiden Johnston, Belsito, Trevor Luthart and Mitchell Holtz keyed that decisive uprising.

Luthart picked up the win on the mound  allowing 5 hits with 3 strikeouts.

The Nationals went 5-1 for the four day tournament.
