N-O vs. G-R senior basketball doubleheader Friday at Albion

The 15th annual Niagara-Orleans League vs. Genesee Region League Exceptional Senior basketball doubleheader will be held on Friday at Albion.

The girls game is scheduled for 5 p.m. to be followed by the boys contest at 6:30 p.m.

Local players on the N-O squads will include Ryan Fannin and Connor Barleben from Albion, Cedric Griffith and Taylor Miller from Medina, Alex Stoddard and Becky Harnish from Roy-Hart along with Jacob Haight, Mitchell Luckman, Bryce Moeller, Hayden Gooding, Olivia Denny and Julia Atwater from Barker.

The G-R squads include the following local players: Alex Sutphen, Garett Love, Nicole Browe and Shelby Reis from Kendall, Nicole Blackburn from Holley and Jenna Castricone from Lyndonville.

The N-O holds a 10-4 lead in the series against the G-R in the boys game and a 9-5 lead in the girls contest.

Last year the N-O boys made it six wins in a row with a 53-43 victory while the girls completed the sweep with a 64-55 win.

Section Vi Class B Final
Niagara-Orleans League and Class B2 champion Wilson dropped a narrow 43-41 overtime decision to Class B1 champion Tonawanda Wednesday at Buffalo State College to earn the Section VI Class B berth to the state playoffs.

Emily Lasher had 17 points and Kaylee Stoelting 12 for Wilson which led 14-11 at the half.

The contest was tied at 36-36 at the end of regulation time.
