N-O trio earns All-WNY field hockey honors

A trio of Niagara-Orleans League players including Barker junior Katrina Clare, Medina senior Guin Schalck and Akron senior Olivia Diebel have been named to the first team of the All-Western New York Field Hockey squad.

Clare, a repeat All-WNY selection, scored 30 goals this season as she helped lead Barker to Section VI and Far West Regional Class C titles and a berth in the state semifinals. She scored three goals in the Lady Raiders come-from-behind 4-3 overtime win in the Far West Regional against East Rochester.

Schalck, a second team All-WNY honoree last year, led Medina in scoring this season with 13 goals.

Diebel, who is also a repeat first team All-WNY selection, had 14 goals and 12 assists for the Lady Tigers this season.

Schalck is also a three-time first team N-O All-League honoree while Clare and Diebel are both two-time selections.

Two N-O players, Roy-Hart senior Lexie Lovewell and Barker sophomore Madison Gancasz have been named to the All-WNY second team.

In addition, Roy-Hart seniors Jamie Bower and RayLynn Chraston, Akron junior Alexis Bell, Barker junior Ciara Gregoire and Kenmore senior Kasey Jo Phibbs have all received All-WNY Honorable Mention.
