N-O League honors veteran coaches

Contributed Photos – Highlighting this week’s annual Niagara-Orleans Fall Coaches Dinner was the presentation of the Foundation Award to three recently retired Albion coaches. They include, from left, Wayne Wadhams, Ann Capacci and Keith Piccirilli. Wadhams served for many years as the boys track coach and also assisted on the varsity football and basketball teams. Capacci coached both the girls varsity volleyball and softball teams for over 20 years. Piccirilli coached the varsity wrestling coach for three decades and was also an assistant varsity football coach for many years. They each guided their teams to multiple N-O championships.

The N-O dinner also saw the presentation of 20 year Service Awards to these five coaches. In front are Medina boys varsity basketball Coach Tom Forrestel and Akron varsity field hockey Coach Mary Borden. In back are Barker Athletic Director Dave Carson, Medina Wrestling Coach Eric Gross and Medina Superintendent Mark Kruzynski who served as Medina girls varsity softball coach for several years and as the league’s representative on the Section VI softball committee.
