N-O leading Medina girls down Barker

Steadily pulling away, Medina downed host Barker 50-20 this evening to maintain sole possession of the Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball lead at 5-0.

In other N-O games, defending champion Wilson (5-1) topped host Albion (4-2) 52-39 to take over sole possession of second place and Newfane (3-3) bested Akron (2-3) 56-31.

Je’ne Brown scored a game high 23 points to lead the way for Medina as Maddie Winters added 9, Kayla Cuadra 6, Molley Gross 4, Maddie Williams and Kharise Johnson 3 and Hannah Sones 2. Brown and Winters also both grabbed off 10 rebounds.

Gabby Baker led Barker with 9.

Medina built up leads of 12-2 after one quarter, 26-6 at the half and 39-16 at the three-quarter mark.

Wilson 52, Albion 39
Breaking away from a 24-24 halftime deadlock, Wilson used a 15-7 third period scoring edge to key the 52-39 win over Albion.

Rachel Senek scored 22 and Kayla Neumann 14 to spark Wilson.

Chanyce Powell sparked Albion with 20.

Newfane 56, Akron 31
Paige Emborsky scored 19, Emily Foltz 12 and Olivia Littman 11 for Newfane which built up a 28-14 half-time advantage in route to posting a 56-31 victory over Akron.
