N-O honors All-League softball squad

All eight teams are represented on the first team of the annual Niagara-Orleans All-League softball squad.

Akron, which shared the N-O crown with Roy-Hart at 12-2, leads the way with three selections including senior infielders Tobie Abrams and Morgan Carberry along with catcher Abby Stone who is only an eighth grader.

Roy-Hart is represented by the junior duo of pitcher Taylor Fry and infielder Ashley Bower.

Newfane also placed two players in senior infielder Morgan Bedford and junior outfielder Gabby Sinnott as did Wilson in the battery of junior pitcher Tayler Devole and freshman catcher Jen Darlak.

Rounding out the first team are Albion sophomore catcher Kelsee Soule, Medina senior infielder Mallori Wienke, Barker senior catcher Olivia Denny and CSAT senior infielder Rachele Anello.

Soule and Denny are repeat first team honorees while Abrams, Bower, Fry and Bedford were all second team selections last year.

Stone hit .483 for Akron with 20 runs scored and an average of three RBIs per game. Abrams scored 17 runs and had 12 RBIs and defensively averaged seven putouts per game at first base. Carberry hit .440 with seven doubles, one triple and 21 runs scored.

Fry had a 12-1 record on the mound with 60 strikeouts and an earned run average of 1.94. At the plate she hit .493 with 10 RBIs and also stole 15 bases. Bower hit . 485 with eight doubles, four triples, one home run and 34 RBIs.

Darlak hit .400 for Wilson with three doubles, 11 RBIs and 16 runs scored. Devole went 7-3 on the mound with a 2.88 earned run average and a .965 fielding average. At the plate she drove in nine runs.

Soule, who is a three year varsity starter, hit .527 with 12 doubles, three triples, four home runs and 23 RBIs.

Wienke hit .415 with three doubles, two triples, three home runs and nine multi hit games. She also scored 14 runs.

Denny, a five year varsity player who played both second base and catcher, hit .290 with 20 runs scored and stole 20 bases out of 21 attempts.

Anello hit .472 with three doubles, one triple and nine RBIs. She also stole 25 bases.

Albion is represented on the second team by senior outfielder Kelsey Schmitt, Medina by senior catcher Haley Jakubowski, Roy-Hart by senior catcher Samantha Brown and eighth grade outfielder Kayla Brown and Barker by junior pitcher Kelsey Blackley and sophomore pitcher Erika Moeller.

The second team also includes Akron outfielders Alora Rumfola, a senior, and Megan Kidder, a freshman, along with Wilson senior infielder Allie Bubar and junior outfielder Rebekah Blasius, CSAT junior pitcher Marissa Lettieri and Newfane freshman catcher Olivia Littman.
