Rain washed out this afternoon’s Akron at Roy-Hart Niagara-Orleans League baseball season opener which has been rescheduled for Friday.

The rainy weather also has the rest of this week’s scheduled N-O diamond openers in doubt. In fact, Thursday’s Medina at Newfane game has already been postponed until April 27.

The other N-O diamond openers are slated to have CSAT at Akron on Thursday and defending champion Albion at Wilson on Friday.

“We can’t get a game in to save our lives. It’s frustrating,” said Albion Coach Bruce Blanchard of the persistent bad weather which has wiped out the Purple Eagles entire preseason slate of two scrimmages and four non league contests. “We haven’t even had a chance to get on our field yet and that makes it especially difficult this year as we have so many unproven kids we need to get a look at.”

The N-O softball season is also scheduled to begin on Thursday but the Newfane at Medina game has already been postponed until 4:45 p.m. Friday. Thursday’s other scheduled openers have Wilson at Albion, Barker at Roy-Hart and Akron at CSAT.

Today’s rain also forced the postponement of the Kendall at Holley Genesee Region League softball opener as well as the Wilson at Lyndonville non league softball game, the Lyndonville at Barker non league baseball game and the Oakfield-Alabama at Kendall G-R tennis match.
