Mustangs win to cap 12-0 N-O title season

Completing a perfect 12-0 league title campaign, Medina blanked host Wilson 7-0 this afternoon to close out the Niagara-Orleans baseball season.

Preston Woodworth hurled a 2 hit shutout with 11 strikeouts to lead the way for the Mustangs which improve to 17-1 overall.

Up 1-0 on an unearned first inning run, Medina opened up a little breathing room by scoring three times in the third inning on an RBI double by Brody Fry, a ground out and an error. A single by Tyler Kroening and a walk set up the threat.

The Mustangs tacked on one insurance run in the fifth on an error and two in the sixth on an RBI single by Carter Woodworth and a fielders choice play.

Medina will close out the regular season with non league road games at Kenmore West on Tuesday and at Lockport on Thursday.

Akron 12, Albion 8
A marathon 9 run late inning scoring burst keyed Akron to a 12-8 win over visiting Albion.

Trailing 3-1, Akron took the lead for good by scoring 9 runs in the fifth inning on two two-run errors, two run producing errors, a bases loaded walk and RBI singles by Hunter Haist and Ryan Owen.

Albion answered back with 5 runs in the top of the sixth om RBI singles by Seth Krenning, Andrew Boyce and Elliott Trapiss and a two-run error but could get no closer than 10-8. Nate Gibson, Gavin Boyce and Drew Pritchard also had hits during the Purple Eagles rally.

Gavin Boyce finished with 3 hits as Andrew Boyce, Trapiss and Pritchard each had 2.

Akron finishes the N-O season at 9-3 and Albion at 7-5.

Roy-Hart 11, Barker 1
Roy-Hart completed a 7-5 N-O season with an 11-1 win over visiting Barker as Gavin Heideman hurled a 1 hitter with 16 strikeouts.

RJ Townsend had 3 hits and John Brigham 2 to lead the Rams at the plate.

Roy-Hart scored 4 runs in the third inning as Evan Poeller had a two-run double and Townsend an RBI single and 4 more in the sixth as Brigham had a two-run double.
