Mustangs win N-O opener over Raiders

Medina opened defense of its Niagara-Orleans League boys basketball title with a 53-21 win at Barker this evening.
Nate Sherman and Brian Fry each scored 10 points to lead Medina’s balanced attack as Vincent Montague, Joe Cecchini and Jarin Rhim each added 8, Tyler Chinn and William Braswell 4 and Izaiah Rhim 1.
Nick Brandt led Barker with 10 as Preston Harris had 5, Hunter Callen 4 and Cole Hanssen 2.
Medina jumped out to a 12-0 first period lead as two baskets by Montague led five Mustang point getters.
The Mustangs lead increased to 25-2 at the half and 35-12 at the three-quarter mark.
Medina next hosts Elba at 6:30 p.m. Monday in a non league game.
