Breaking away from a scoreless deadlock, No. 3 seed Medina used a big three goal second half scoring burst to down No. 6 Springville 3-0 in a Section VI Class B1 boys soccer quarterfinal round game at Vets Park this evening.

Aidan Papaj broke that scoreless deadlock when he scored on a rebound shot just 4 minutes into the second half. The rebound tally came off an initial shot by Cole Callard.

Tyler Kroening doubled the Mustangs advantage with a goal 8 minutes later.

Jason Beyer then scored the clincher just 7 minutes later.

Brady Christiaansen made several big saves in goal for the Mustangs whose defense was anchored by Beyer, Cam Kenward, Trenton Morley, Ryan Pegelow and Luke Duffina.

The Mustangs will next face  No. 2 East Aurora in the B1 semifinals at 5 p.m. Monday at West Seneca West. East Aurora routed No. 7 Tonawanda 14-1 in this evening’s quarterfinal contest.

Medina defender Trenton Morley looks to send the ball up field as Springville’s Dylan Emerling attempts to stop.
