Mustangs top Tigers to extend win streak
Making it five league wins in a row, Medina posted a 51-43 victory over host Akron this evening in a Niagara-Orleans basketball contest.
Nate Sherman scored 19, Brian Fry 12 and Tyler Chinn 10 to lead Medina which improves to 7-4 in N-O action.
Gage Willis scored 20, including six threes, Jake Mazza 9 and Adam Mietz 8 for Akron which finishes the N-O season at 5-7.
Medina held narrow leads of 9-8 after one period and 25-24 at the half as Fry hit three threes in the first half.
The Mustangs then used a 15-7 third period scoring edge to open up a little breathing room at 40-31, heading into the final period.
Sherman scored 6 and Christian Drisdom 4 to lead the Mustangs in the third period.
Sherman then went 6 for 6 from the free throw line in the final period to help the Mustangs lock up the win.
Wilson 51, Roy-Hart 44
Wilson improved to 7-4 with a 51-44 victory over Roy-Hart as Luke Bradley scored 20 and Alex Martinez 13.
Canyon Wood scored 13 and Tom Ragonese 10 for Roy-Hart which slips to 3-8.
Newfane 80, Barker 27
Newfane tuned up for Thursday’s key league home finale against front-running Albion with an 80-27 win over Barker (0-11).
Albion, which has already clinched a tie for the title, is 9-2 while Newfane is 8-3.
