Mustangs top Rams to claim N-O soccer crown
Avenging an earlier season 3-1 loss, Medina/Lyndonville shutout Roy-Hart 2-0 at Gasport this evening to capture the Niagara-Orleans League boys soccer championship.
In breaking a deadlock for the top spot, Medina/Lyndonvile, which last claimed the league crown in 2014, finishes the N-O campaign at 9-1 while Roy-Hart winds up a game off the pace at 8-2.
It was a case of going from worst to first for the Mustangs which finished in the N-O basement last year with a 1-8-1 record.
Nathan Dillenbeck scored what proved to be the game winning goal for the Mustangs on a rebound shot with just 1:05 remaining in the first half.
AJ Seefeldt later added a big insurance goal when he connected on a high looping shot with 29:09 to go in the second half.
