Mustangs to face familiar foe in B2 opener
Seeded No. 9, Medina will face a very familiar foe when the Mustangs visit No. 8 Southwestern in the opening round of the Section VI Class B2 baseball playoffs at 5 p.m. Monday.
It will mark the third straight year that Medina and Southwestern have met in the B2 sectionals. The Mustangs defeated the Trojans 10-0 in the quarterfinals in 2021 and 5-4 in the semifinals last spring.
The winner of tomorrow’s game will visit top seeded Springville/West Valley, which is 14-1, in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
Monday’s other B2 openers will have No. 11 Newfane at No. 5 Eden and No. 6 Roy-Hart hosting No. 11 Allegany/Limestone at 5 p.m.. The R-H vs. A-L winner will visit No. 3 Akron in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. The Newfane vs. Eden winner will visit No. 4 Fredonia.
In Class B1, No. 10 Albion will visit No. 7 East Aurora at 5 p.m. Monday. The winner will visit No. 2 Depew, which is 17-1, in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
In Class C, No. 6 Wilson will host No. 11 Cassadaga Valley at 5 p.m. Monday with the winner traveling to No. 3 Portville on Tuesday.
In Class D, No. 8 Barker will visit top seeded Maple Grove at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
