Purple Eagles rally for overtime win

Medina/Lyndonville battled to a 1-1 overtime tie with host Akron this morning in a Niagara-Orleans League boys soccer game.

Both goals came in the first half as Greg Husung scored for the Mustangs off an assist from Brian Anderson and Bryan Whitbeck tallied for the Tigers.

The Mustangs played the second half and the two overtime periods a man short due to a red card.

“I’m really proud of the way our kids played being a man down,” said Mustangs Coach Steve Luksch. “Defenseively we played very well.”

Medina/Lyndonville is now 5-3-2 and Akron 6-3-1 in N-O action.

Albion 3, CSAT 2 OT
Albion nipped visiting CSAT 3-2 in overtime as Hayden Pecoraro pulled the Purple Eagles even with a penalty kick goal with just 15 seconds to go in regulation and Nick Reed followed up with the game winner seven minutes into overtime.

Donato Roario netted the Purple Eagles first goal off an assist from Pecoraro 14 minutes into the second half.

CSAT led 2-0 at the half.

“We had a very sloppy first half but we put it together in the second half and played much harder and much smarter,” said Albion Coach Keith Akers.

Albion improves to 4-5-2 and CSAT slips to 1-9 in N-O competition.

Wilson 4, Roy-Hart 0
Wilson boosted its N-O record to 5-2-2 with a 4-0 win over Roy-Hart (1-9) as Cesar Carlin scored the three goal hat-trick for the Lakemen.
