Mustangs surge in second half to down Lakemen; Rams post win over Raiders

Rebounding from a dismal 13 point first half, Medina got rolling offensively in the third quarter to key a 55-47 win over visiting Wilson in a Niagara-Orleans League game this evening.

Trailing 20-13 at the half, the Mustangs rallied with a big 21-7 third period scoring edge to take the lead for good by a 34-27 margin at the three-quarter mark,

Back-to-back threes by Aiden Pitts and Justin Pitts to open the third period ignited the uprising. Cole Callard and Aiden Pitts followed up with layups to cap a 10-0 run which vaulted the Mustangs into the lead for the first time at 23-20.

Aiden Pitts had a total of 10 points, including a pair of threes, and Justin Pitts hit two threes in the decisive period.

Keeping the momentum, the Mustangs extended the lead to 12, 45-33, midway through the final period after a three by Cayden Lilleby and baskets by Roosevelt Mitchell and Jerrell Nealy.

Wilson did cut the deficit to six three times in the final three minutes at 47-41, 50-44 and 53-47 after threes by Jack Mahar, Mike Bubar and Logan Wolfe but the Lakemen could get no closer.

The Mustangs locked up the win at the foul line as Justin Pitts had 5 free throws, Aiden Pitts 2 and Lilleby 1 in the final 1:05.

Aiden Pitts finished with a game high 21, Lilleby and Justin Pitts 11 each, Mitchell and Jason Beyer 4 and Callard and Nealy 2.

Wolfe scored 15 and Bubar 14 to lead Wilson as Mahar added 6, Matt Fox 5, John Ernest 4, Blake Martin 2 and Charles Clemente 1.

Medina and Wilson are now both 1-4 in N-O action.

Roy-Hart 63, Barker 52
Improving to 4-2 Roy-Hart downed host Barker 63-52 in another N-O contest.

Jamel Johnson Jr. scored a game high 27 as Rem Albee and Jayden Swygert both added 10 to lead Roy-Hart..

Aidan Voss scored 19, Luey Castro 14 and Brad Cantrell 11 for Barker which slips to 1-4.

Roy-Hart jumped out to a 26-16 first quarter lead as Johnson Jr. tallied 13 during that stretch.

Swygert and Jackson Webber then both hit a pair of threes in the second quarter to help keep the Rams up 36-30 at the half.

Barker stayed within six, 50-44, heading into the final period but the Rams got five free throws each from Albee and Johnson Jr. down the stretch to help lock up the win.

Newfane 66, Akron 54
Opening up a two game lead, undefeated Newfane (5-0) downed runner-up Akron (3-2) 66-54 as Ben Dickinson led the Panthers with 15.
