Mustangs score wild 58-34 win over Bulldogs

Exploding for 8 touchdowns and nearly 600 yards in offense, Medina/Lyndonville roared to a wild 58-34 victory over host Alden this evening in a B-3 Division football game.

Quarterback Izaish Rhim accounted for 7 touchdowns to lead the Mustangs high scoring attack.

Rhim, who had a hand in 52 of the Mustangs points had 197 yards passing, including 4 touchdowns, and 145 yards rushing, including 3 TDs.

Medina/Lyndonville held a narrow 8-7 lead at the end of the first period on a 2-yard touchdown run and two-point conversion carry by Rhim.

The Mustangs then erupted for 5 touchdowns in a wild sea-saw second quarter including scoring passes by Rhim of 5 yards to Mason Lewis, 18 yards to William Braswell and 83 yards to Jalin Cooper. He also ran for a pair of two-point conversions and passed to Lewis for another.

Braswell, who had a total of 187 yards rushing on the night, also had a 22-yard touchdown run and Rhim a 13 yard TD carry during that stretch which saw the Mustangs outpoint the Bulldogs 36-20 to open up a 44-27 advantage at the half.  Cooper had an interception to set up one of those tallies.

Rhim had an 8-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and a 19 yard scoring pass to Brian Fry in the final stanza and added a two-point conversion pass to Matt Saj, to round out the Mustangs point parade.

Christian Snell and Brandon Windnagle each scored a pair of touchdowns for Alden.

Medina/Lyndonville  finishes the B-3 campaign at 3-2 and improves to 4-2 overall as the Mustangs keep their slim playoff hopes alive.
