Mustangs score twin bill sweep over Lakemen to complete 12-0 N-O championship season
Scoring a doubleheader sweep, Medina blanked Wilson by scores of 10-0 and 7-0 at Vets Park this evening to complete an undefeated (12-0) Niagara-Orleans League championship baseball season.
Aiden Paul hurled a one hitter with 12 strikeouts for the Mustangs in the opener.
Medina quickly moved on top to stay in the first inning on a two-run double by Alex Doval after a walk and singles by Joe Cecchini and Austin Mosher had loaded the bases.
Back-to-back RBI doubles by AJ Seefeldt and Brian Fry in the second inning doubled the Mustangs lead.
Defending N-O champion Medina then broke the contest open by scoring four times in the third inning on a two-run single by Corey Saj, an RBI single by Seefeldt and and RBI double by Fry.
Saj later capped off the scoring with a two-run sacrifice fly in the sixth inning.
Doval, Saj, Seefeldt, Fry and Paul each finished with a pair of hits.
The second contest likewise saw Medina get a strong pitching performance as Zach Fike hurled a two hitter with 10 strikeouts.
Fike also helped himself at the plate by banging out four hits including a two-run double in the first inning, an RBI double in the fifth and an RBI single in the sixth. Singles by Seefeldt and Fry set up the first inning opportunity and a triple by Fry set up the fifth inning tally.
Joe Cecchini belted a two-run homer in the sixth inning and Xander Payne had an RBI single in the fourth to round out the Mustangs scoring.
Fry had a total of 3 hits and Saj 2.
Wilson finishes the N-O season at 5-7.
