Mustangs score track sweep over Rams
Medina/Lyndonville scored a sweep over visiting Roy-Hart this afternoon in a wind swept Niagara-Orleans League track meet.
The Mustangs won the boys meet 83-49 and the girls competition by a nearly identical score of 82-49.
Matt Cochrane was a triple winner for the Medina/Lyndonville boys squad in the 400 (:55.8), high jump (5-4) and triple jump (38-0).
The Mustangs also had a trio of individual event double winners as Jalin Cooper took the 100 (:11.3) and 200 (:24.2), Zach Harris in the shot-put (33-5 1/2) and discus (81-3) and Chase Pecoraro the 400 hurdles (1:07) and long jump (17-4 1/2).
Cooper, Pecorro, Cochrane and Derek Donley teamed up to win the 1600 relay (3:47.3) as did Cooper, Donley, Harris and Steven Anderson in the 400 relay (:49.5).
Avery Green was a triple winner for Roy-Hart in the 800 (2:14.01), 1600 (5:15.04) and 3200 (11:23.2).
Medina/Lyndonville is now 2-0 and Roy-Hart 1-1.
Hannah Adams doubled in the 100 (:13.7) and 200 (:30.6), Holly Heil in the 400 (1:06.1) and 800 (2:39.9) and Martha Gardner in the 1500 (5:33) and 3000 (11:52) to set the pace for the Medina/Lyndonville girls squad which is now 1-1 on the season.
The Mustangs also had Lydia Battaglia win the shot-put (24-7 1/2), Emma Gardner the discus (60-8 1/2) and Sarah Cochrane the triple jump (27-7).
The Mustangs also swept the three relays as Megan Roach, Katie Bilicki, Stella Russo and Adams took the 400 (:58.7); Roach, Liz Newman, Adams and Heil the 1600 (4:50.4) and Martha Gardner, Newman, Paige Wager and Heil the 3200 (12:01.)
Emma Lindke was a double winner for Roy-Hart in the 100 hurdles (:18..1) and high jump (4-4) as Kaleigh Kuzma took the 400 hurdles (1:16.1) and Amder Villella the long jump (13-8).
Roy-Hart is now 0-2.
Albion vs. Wilson incomplete
The very windy conditions, which caused the pole vault and high jump competition not to be held, has left the Albion at Wilson meet incomplete.
Albion is leading 66-57 in the girls meet while Wilson holds a 64-59 advantage in the boys competition which is expected to be completed later this week.
Zach Sarratori was a triple winner in the 100, long jump and triple jump for the Wilson boys squad which also had Trey Rees double in the 800 and 1600.
The Albion boys had Tyler Nashburn win the high hurdles, Lamar Chambers the intermediate hurdles, Jacob Squicciarini the 200 and Aaron Chen the 3200.
Nashburn, Squicciarini and Chambers also teamed up with Nick Reed to win the 1600 relay.
The Albion girls had a trio of individual event double winners as Mariah Elsenheimer took the 100 and 200, Madison Coville the 800 and 1500 and Chanyce Powell the long jump and triple jump.
Aleah Foos also won the 100 hurdles for the Purple Eagles.
Newfane, Akron split
Newfane defeated Akron 69-63 in the boys meet while Akron took the girls competition 115-17.
The Newfane boys had Samuel Auershamer double in the 1600 and 3200 and Andrew Boudtman in the long jump and triple jump.
Zack Bell doubled for Akron in the 200 and 400.
