Mustangs romp to win over Raiders

Scoring early and often, Medina rolled to a 17-0 win over Barker in a Niagara-Orleans League game at Vets Park this afternoon.

Setting the tone, Medina scored 4 quick runs in the first inning on RBI triples by Aidan Paul and Aiden Pitts along with run producing sacrifices by Brody Fry and Aidan Papaj.

Paul quickly upped the lead to 7-0 by belting a three-run home run in the second inning as a leadoff double by Preston Woodworth and a walk set up the threat.

Keeping the momentum, the Mustangs erupted for 5 runs in the third inning on a two-run homer by Richard Keppler, an RBI triple by Julian Woodworth, an RBI double by Paul and an RBI single by Fry. to make it 12-0.

The Mustangs also scored 5 times in the fifth frame to close out the win highlighted by a three-run double by Julian Woodworth.

In all 9 of the Mustangs 14 hits were for extra bases.

Fry and Vinny Gray shared in the pitching duties for the Mustangs combining on a 4 hitter with 7 strikeouts.

Medina improves to 4-1 in the league while Barker slips to 0-8.

The Mustangs next host Roy-Hart at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Barker’s Noah Sandolfini and Michael Kalyynycz collide while going for a fly ball as Sandolfini made the catch.
