Getting point production from 10 different players, Medina rolled to a 59-35 victory over visiting Akron this evening to improve to 4-2 in Niagara-Orleans League boys basketball action.

In the other N-O contests, undefeated (5-0) Barker downed visiting Albion (2-5) 74-61 to take over sole possession of first place as Roy-Hart (4-2) handed defending champion CSAT (4-1) its first league loss 51-47.

Munjie Brown scored a game high 15 points for Medina as Dylan Lewis added 8, Jason Hellwig and Ben McPherson 7, Larry Bruning and Brennan Zinkievich 6, David Garrow 4 and Kevin Arnold, Aaron Feltz and Adam Hoot 2 each.

Brenden Weierheiser scored 9 to lead Akron which slips to 1-4.

Medina jumped out to a 13-7 first quarter lead as Hellwig had a three and a two to lead the balanced attack.

Brown and Lewis then each tallied eight in the second period keying a 20-7 run that vaulted the Mustangs out to a 33-14 half-time advantage. Lewis’ tallies included a pair of threes.

The Mustangs maintained a 45-21 advantage a the three-quarter mark as Brown and McPherson both netted five in the third quarter.

Barker 74, Albion 61
Jacob Haight scored a game high 23 points, Mitch Luckman 15 and Christopher Sweeney 11 to lead the attack for Barker which got point production from a total of 11 players.

Byrce Moeller, Tanner Gregoire, Thomas Callaghan and Sean Benoit each added 4 for the Raiders as Tristan Payne had 3 and Hayden Gooding, Jarid Worthington and Joshua Mead 2 each.

Austin Loyd and Des Blackmon each had 15 for Albion as Manny Thompson added 9, Ryan Fannin 8, Clayton Stanton and Chris Trevino 4 and Alex Bison, Andrew Burroughs and Connor Barleben 2.

Barker jumped out to a 21-15 first period lead as Haight scored 7, Sweeney 6 on two threes and Luckman and Moeller 4 each.

The Raiders then broke the contest open outscoring Albion 23-9 in the second quarter to open up s 20 point, 44-24, half-time advantage. Luckman tallied 9 and Haight 6 to lead that uprising.

Roy-Hart 51, CSAT 47
Trailing 44-43 with 2:20 remaining, Roy-Hart put together a clutch 8-0 scoring spurt to key a narrow 51-47 victory over CSAT.

Alex Stoddard had a bucket and two free throws and Cody Breedlove and Nelson Andrade each added a pair from the line for the Rams during that key stretch.

Stoddard finished with a game high 23 points as Andy Xapsos added 10, Austin Heschke and DaRon Woods 6 and Breedlove, Andrade and Marc Roman 2.

Stoddard had a big 13 point first quarter which sparked Roy-Hart out to a 21-12 lead.

The Rams went on to hold leads of 35-24 at the half and 39-38 after three quarters.

Wilson 51, Newfane 37
Snapping a season opening four league game losing streak, Wilson defeated visiting rival Newfane 51-37 Thursday.

Evan Shank scored a game high 23 points to lead Wilson as Kyle Bradley added 9 and Joe Littere 8.

Josh Kneeland Kyle Burdick and Sean Costello each scored 10 for Newfane which slips to 2-5 in N-O action.

Trailing 9-3 after the first quarter, Wilson rallied to outpoint Newfane 14-5 in the second period to grab a 17-14 half-time advantage. The Lakemen maintained a 34-27 lead at the three-quarter mark.
