Mustangs romp; Lions rally past Rams
Exploding for seven quick runs in the first inning and six more in the second, Medina coasted to a 16-1 non league win over Cleveland Hill this afternoon at Vets Park.
A two-run single by Zach Fike and an RBI single by Richard Keppler highlighted the Mustangs big first inning. Xander Payne then hit a two-run homer and Tyler Kroening had a double in the second inning.
Fike and Keppler both finished with three hits. Keppler’s hits also included a two-run single in the third inning and Fike’s an RBI triple in the fourth.
On the mound, Fike, Brody Fry and Julian Woodworth combined to register a total of 12 strikeouts.
Improving to 6-0, Medina next hosts City Honors in a non league game at 4:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.
Lockport 12, Roy-Hart 10
Trailing 10-4 host Lockport erupted for 8 runs in the sixth inning to post a 12-10 non league win over Roy-Hart.
Brayden Hy and Jay Heideman both had 2 hits for Roy-Hart. Hy’s hits were a double and triple. Heideman had a pair of RBIs while Hy, Ryan Mettler, John Conley, Remington Albee and Ethan Kuzma each had one.
On the mound, Thomas Russo pitched the first four innings for the Rams allowing 3 hits and striking out 11.
