Keeping the scoreboard busy, Medina romped to a 92-38 non league season opening victory over visiting Buffalo Academy of Science this evening.

Nate Sherman led the Mustangs scoring parade with 23 as Joe Cecchini had 17, Tyler Chinn 16, Brian Fry and Jarin Rhim 12 each, Ricky Wood 8 and Dontae Rhim 4.

Devin Pope led the visiting Wolverines with 20.

The contest was a matchup of small squads as Medina had only seven players and Buffalo Academy of Science just six.

Medina jumped out to a 22-15 first period lead as Chinn led the way in the early going with 12 on five layups and a rebound basket. Fry added 6 and Cecchini 4 during that stretch.

The Mustangs then began to pull away by outpointing the Wolverines 25-12 in the second quarter to open up a 47-27 half-time advantage.

Sherman exploded for 17 points, mostly coming on layups and rebound baskets, to lead that uprising.

Keeping the momentum, the Mustangs then used a 28-6 third period scoring edge to extend the lead to 42, 75-33, at the three-quarter mark.

Jarin Rhm tallied 10, Sherman 6 and Fry, Chinn and Wood 4 each during that stanza.

Medina next visits CSAT on Friday for another non league contest.
