Mustangs roll to win over Rams

Getting point production from 11 players, front-running Medina rolled to a 73-45 victory over visiting Roy-Hart this evening to improve to 8-0 in Niagara-Orleans League competition.

Jalln Cooper scored 21 and Izaiah Rhim 15 to lead the Medina attack as Mason Lewis and Johnny Salone both added 8, Tyrellis Atkins 5, Vincent Montague 4, Alex Allis and Brendan Luthart 3 and Trenton Jones, Michael Cardone and Jorge Phillips 2.

Jacob Bruning scored 16, Brendon Hess 12, DJ Davis 11, Matt Borel 4 and Noah Kindron 2 for Roy-Hart which slips to 3- 6 in N-O competition.

Medina jumped out to a 13-4 first period lead on two buckets by Cooper along with one each by Rhim, Atkins, Salone and Luthart.

The Mustangs then put together a 26-18 second period scoring edge to extend the advantage to 17, 39-22, at the half. Cooper tallied 9 including a slam dunk, Lewis 8, including a pair of threes, and Rhim 4 to spearhead that uprising.

Roy-Hart did cut the deficit a bit to 12, 43-31, after opening the third period with a 9-4 run including a three and a two by Davis along with buckets by Bruning and Borel, but the Rams would get no closer.

Medina answered with an 8-2 run to close the period highlighted by back-to-back baskets off turnovers by Salone and Rhim, to move back out to an 18 point, 51-33, advantage at the three-quarter mark.

The Mustangs closed out the win with a 22-12 fourth quarter surge as Rhim had three baskets and Cooper and Salone two each.

Medina next hosts Wilson and Roy-Hart entertains Albion next Tuesday.

Medina also defeated Roy-Hart in the JV game 53-38 as Emmanual Taylor scored 15. Daemon Shatara 13, Nate Sherman 9, Brian Fry 8 and Tyler Chinn 7.  Reed Albee scored 14 for Roy-Hart.

Wilson 67, Barker 67
Wilson improved to 6-3 by downing visiting Barker (4-4) 67-60 as Connor Seeley scored 20, Steve Frerichs 13 and Nate Fox 11.

Nate Luckman scored 21, Edie Wasnock 19 and Jake Arnold 10 for Barker.

Trailing 38-33 at the half, Wilson used a 15-4 third period scoring edge to key the win.
