Mustangs repeat shutout of Panthers

Completing a home-and-home shutout series sweep, Medina blanked host Newfane 4-0 in a Niagara-Orleans League baseball game this afternoon.

Medina, which also shutout Newfane 2-0 at Vets Park on Wednesday, scored what proved to be the game winning run in the third inning on a two-out single by Julian Woodworth.

Woodworth, who had a total of three hits on the day, also banged out an RBI single in the fifth frame.

The Mustangs added two big insurance runs in the seventh inning on an RBI single by winning pitcher Aidan Paul, a double by Zach Fike and an RBI single by Joe Cecchini.

Cecchini and Brody Fry both had two hits on the day.

Paul pitched the first six innings allowing 2 hits and striking out 7. Xander Payne came on to hurl the seventh inning allowing no hits with 3 strikeouts.

Medina is now 2-0 and Newfane 0-2 in N-O action.

Wilson pitcher Tyler Johnston allowed 2 hits and struck out 14 while Barker hurler Aidan Voss gave up 3 hits and struck out 8.

Breaking away from a scoreless deadlock, Wilson scored what proved to be the game winning run in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Hamza Merrick. The Lakemen added two unearned insurance runs in the sixth inning.

Wilson is now 2-0 and Barker 0-3.
