Mustangs, Rams roll in N-O diamond contests
Medina and Roy-Hart both erupted for 15 runs in posting victories today to improve to 3-0 in Niagara-Orleans League baseball action.
Medina defeated host Akron 15-1 and Roy-Hart downed visiting Newfane 15-3.
Wilson bested Barker 7-1 in the other N-O game to go to 1-2.
Leading 4-0, Medina broke the game against Akron wide open by erupting for five runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.
A leadoff double by Joe Cecchini ignited both uprisings. AJ Seefeldt also had a three-run double and Austin Mosher an RBI double in the fifth.
Seefeldt finished with a total of three hits as Cecchini, Mosher, Brian Fry and Alex Doval each added two. Fry’s hits included a double.
Zach Fike picked up the win on the mound allowing 4 hits and striking out 6 in five and one-third innings of work. Aiden Paul hurled the last inning and two-thirds giving up no hits and striking out 3.
The Mustangs will now host the Tigers on Tuesday.
Roy-Hart 15, Newfane 3
A three run first inning home run by Gavyn Boyle helped spark Roy-Hart to a 15-3 win over Newfane.
The Rams later broke the contest open with eight runs in the fourth inning highlighted by a two-run double by winning pitcher Thomas Russo III.
At the plate, Russo had 3 hits and drove in 6 runs. On the mound he allowed just 2 hits and struck out 7 in five innings of work.
Wilson 7, Barker 1
A four run third inning uprising highlighted by a double by Tyler Johnston and a single by Noah Yernye keyed Wilson to the 7-1 win over Barker. Johnston had two hits on the day.
Conner Ernest picked up the win on the mound for the Lakemen allowing 2 hits and striking out 7 over five innings.
